How to use Cheza

Everything a family needs, step by step: paying, the questionnaire, printing and playing your therapy games, Practical Family Training, and what happens when your month ends.

Which situation are you in?

1. How Cheza works

Cheza gives your family a month of printable therapy games picked for your child, following the Cheza Social Applied Behavior Analysis (Social ABA) protocol of Nairobi Outpatients Center.

  1. Join with your name, email, M-Pesa phone number and a password.
  2. Choose a plan and pay with M-Pesa. Each payment opens the account for 30 days.
  3. Answer the questionnaire about what your child can do and which kinds of play they like (about 8 minutes).
  4. Cheza picks the month's games from your answers, straight away. You don't choose games yourself.
  5. Print the games (one PDF with a paper play tracker) and play at least 6 hours a day with the ones your child enjoys.
  6. See the progress: you answer the same questions every month, so the report shows how your child is growing.

Alongside the games you can book Practical Family Training: sessions at the hospital where a therapist plays with your child and shows you how. You can book it with or without a games month.

2. Getting started and paying

The plans

PlanPriceTherapy games each month
Bronze$25 a month24
Silver$40 a month48
Gold$60 a month100

Prices are in US dollars. M-Pesa charges the same amount in Kenya shillings, so the prompt on your phone shows KES.

Paying with M-Pesa

  1. Go to Plans and press Choose on the plan you want.
  2. Check the M-Pesa number (it must be a Safaricom line you have with you) and tick the box saying you will print the games before the month ends.
  3. Press Pay. Within a few seconds your phone shows an M-Pesa pop-up asking for your PIN.
  4. Enter your PIN. Keep the Cheza page open: it updates by itself when M-Pesa confirms, and takes you to the questionnaire.

No pop-up? Make sure the phone is on and unlocked, then press I didn't get a prompt and try again. Nothing is charged unless you enter your PIN. If money left your M-Pesa but Cheza still says waiting, don't pay twice: Cheza checks with Safaricom by itself. If it is still not open after an hour, call us with the M-Pesa receipt number.

3. Your games month

Your month runs for 30 days from the moment you pay. My corner shows what to do next, with a checklist that ticks itself off.

The questionnaire

  • For each skill, answer Yes, Not satisfactory or No: what you see your child do at home. There are no wrong answers.
  • Then say whether your child likes or dislikes each kind of play: visual, noise, movement and touch.
  • You answer the same questions every month. Answers given up to 7 days before you pay still count.
  • The result comes from your own answers. It helps choose the games; it is not a diagnosis.

How the games are chosen

As soon as you finish, Cheza picks the whole month's games: first for skills you answered No, then Not satisfactory, spread across the skill areas; only in kinds of play your child likes; and only at your child's level (set by the clinic). A game is never given to your family twice.

Printing

  1. Press Print all therapy games on My corner or on Therapy games.
  2. You get one pack: a contents page, every game on its own A4 page (numbered), and the paper play tracker at the end.
  3. Press Print all, or Download all as one PDF and keep it on your phone. Do it before the month ends: after that the games lock.

Playing every day

Play at least 6 hours a day, spread through the day, with the games your child enjoys. They don't have to play every game. Log each day in the Play tracker (hours, and which games if you like), or on the paper tracker. Your therapist looks at it.

Clinic visits

The clinic gives your child a therapist and weekly visit times, and emails you both sides' phone numbers. Visits lists them, and Add visits to my phone's calendar puts them in your phone's calendar. To change a visit, call the clinic or your therapist.

Progress

Progress shows each skill area as a percentage, with started, last time and now side by side, and the skills that need the most practice.

4. Practical Family Training (PFT)

PFT is the practical part of the Social ABA protocol. At the hospital, a therapist plays with your child, shows you how to play the games at home, and gives you homework (playing the games), which they check at the next session. Every family account can book it, with or without a games month.

OptionPriceTime
One sessionKES 4,0002 hours
Full blockKES 15,0005 sessions × 2 hours
  1. On Family training, choose one session or the block and pay with M-Pesa (prices are in Kenya shillings).
  2. When M-Pesa confirms, your PFT file opens with its number (PFT-…). Give it when you call the clinic.
  3. Write which days and times suit you, and press Save.
  4. The clinic gives each session a slot (Monday to Saturday, 08:00–16:00) and emails you the date, time and therapist.
  5. Come with your child, any printed games and your paper play tracker. The homework appears in your PFT file afterwards.

Family training only, no games plan? Your PFT file is your home page. The games, play tracker, visits and progress pages stay locked until you buy a games plan, but you get an email for every booked session.

5. When the month ends

After 30 days the account locks: you can't open or download the games, the print pack or your child's results. You can still see the plans and pay, book Practical Family Training, and change your account details.

  1. If Send me an M-Pesa prompt when my month is up is ticked in Account, your phone gets a payment pop-up around the end of the month. Enter your PIN to carry on, or ignore it.
  2. Or log in and choose a plan yourself.
  3. Paying opens 30 new days with new therapy games. Answer the questionnaire again: same questions, so the progress report can compare.

Paying early (before the month ends) is fine: the running month ends and a fresh 30 days start that day, with new games. Print the old games first.

6. Your account

  • Account shows your plan, every payment with its M-Pesa receipt, and your details.
  • Change your name, email or M-Pesa number there, and your password (at least 8 characters).
  • Forgot your password? Call us on +254 103 529 002.
  • Calm mode (the 🐢 button in the menu) turns off the moving pictures. Your browser remembers it.
